Every survey panel and cashback site quotes two numbers: what a task pays, and the minimum you must accumulate before you can withdraw. Neither answers the only question that matters, which is what an hour of your attention is worth on that platform.

The sum
Reward per task, multiplied by how many tasks fit in an hour. A task paying 1.20 that takes twelve minutes gives five tasks an hour, so the hourly rate is 6.00. The payout threshold then tells you how long you are committing to before any of it becomes money you can actually spend: at that rate, a threshold of 50 is forty-two tasks and roughly eight and a half hours.
The parts the platform does not count
The figure above is the optimistic one. It assumes every task you start is a task you finish and get paid for, which is not how survey panels work. A screen-out — where you answer three minutes of qualifying questions and are then told you do not fit the study — pays nothing, and on some panels it is more common than a completion. Time spent finding a task, reading terms, or waiting for a balance to clear is not counted either.
If you want an honest number, time yourself across a whole evening, including everything that paid nothing, and put the total minutes in.
What to compare it against
Compare the result with the minimum wage where you live, after tax, and with what the same hours would earn doing almost anything else. That comparison is the point of the tool. For most of the services reviewed on this site, the honest answer in 2022 was that the rate was well below any wage, and worth it only if the time was genuinely dead time you could not otherwise use.
One warning
A legitimate panel never charges you to join and never asks for a fee to release your earnings. If either happens, the hourly rate is not the problem.
